This important statue for the Sisters of St. Joseph was severely deteriorated and past repairs were failing. A few previous repairs were out of proportion such as Jesus's hands. Work included removing the existing epoxy coating and deteriorated surface, applying a mixture of natural cement and silver sand and then resculpting the statue. The hands were carved back to the proper proportions and great care was taken to recreate the original features and expressions. After the sculpting was completed we coated the statue with a breathable potasium silicate stain.
